The Allowable Stress button is available only for the LFD design code. It allows you to modify or review the allowable stress factors. Click the Allowable Stress button to activate the Allowable Stresses. Here, you can modify the default allowable stress values by typing over them.

To have the program use the default allowable stress factors to calculate the stresses, select the Use Factor to Calculate check box. Note that when this check box is selected, the allowable stress values become grayed out, returning to the default values.

You can modify the allowable stress factors by clicking the Edit Factors button to activate the Allowable Stress Factors. Edit the values as required and click OK to accept any changes. The program will automatically return to the Allowable Stresses screen. Remember, the Use Factor to Calculate check box must be selected in order for the program to update the allowable stresses.
